Department of History

The Department is one of the largest Departments of the college in terms of number of available seats 196 as Honours course. Mainly, ‘chalk and talk’ method is adopted as process to teaching for the students. The Department has a rich tradition of all-round development of students. The approach is absolutely student centric. They are encouraged to develop the spirit of enquiry in facts in daily life. The Department makes learning in a pleasant environment, with seminars, quiz compitition, tutorials and group discussions. Teacher-student relationship is the most noticeable feature of the Department. We are easily accessible to students and they can unhesitatingly express their difficulties to us. Thus we maintain sweet and live relationship of the Department. The students can express their views independently through their writing in the wall Magazine and teachers guide them properly in this regard. Above all, the faculty members are always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to students within and outside the campus as and when required. There are a good number of collections of books in the college Library.

Currently, the Department is adopted the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from 2018 under as a part of curriculum of the University of Kalyani.
